Part-Time Teacher for Children’s Sunday School and Children’s Church

Job Description

Hours:  Sundays 9 AM – 12 Noon  (3 hours per week  total)

Dates:  Sundays from September through May according to the church calendar (34 Sundays total)

Required:  Current PA and Federal Abuse Clearances as well as PA Child Abuse Clearance

Children’s Programming each Sunday:       Sunday School class for ages 3 through 1^st grade

                                                                        Sunday School class for 2^nd through 6^th grades

                                                                        Children’s Church for all ages during the church service

Teacher Responsibilities:

• Be prepared to teach Sunday school lessons and provide Children’s Church each Sunday.
• Create a Christ-Centered atmosphere that is both loving and fun for the children.
• Use prepared curriculum to teach the Bible as well as the Lord’s Prayer, the Apostle’s Creed and other Christ centered material.
• Conduct learning sessions appropriate to the needs and understanding of the pupils.
• Involve the children in the truth to be learned.
• Encourage the practice of Christian faith at home and at school.
• Build relationships with children and their parents.
• Pray for each child regularly.
• Build relationships with the other children’s staff and volunteers.
• Participate as an active team member to plan and run successful Sunday School classes and Children’s Church programs.
• Arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time in order to greet students and begin class promptly.
• Complete attendance and personal data records as specified.
• Arrange follow-up interaction with absentee students.
• Submit a time-sheet to the Sunday School Director each week.
• Participate with continuing evaluation of job performance.
• Notify the Sunday School Director well in advance of anticipated absences.
