Our Purpose Statement

We have used a popular book called The Purpose Driven Church, by Rick Warren as a plan to organize and renew our church. In 1996 we studied more than 50 verses in the bible to find out what God wants His church to be and do. Our purpose statement came out of that study. We discovered that much of what the bible says about the church’s job is summarized in the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

The Great Commandment:

Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

• LOVE GOD = WORSHIP

• LOVE NEIGHBOR = MINISTRY

   

The Great Commission:

Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

• GO = EVANGELISM

• BAPTIZE =  bring people into the FELLOWSHIP

• MAKE DISCIPLES = DISCIPLESHIP

Our purpose is to bring people to Christ and membership in His church, nurture them to Christ-like maturity, equip them for their church ministry and their life mission in the world, to the glory of God.
